Holidays with Morrie

Two more days to the end of year 2009. Wow.
And i'm not prepared for year 2010. Well, not really prepared.

Come to think of it. I'm turning 19 next year? NINETEEN? Gawd, that sounds old. (didn't mean to offend anyone older than me.. lol.. old among teenagers alright) Besides, my 18th birthday had just passed a month, and i'm going to be 19 years old in a few more days? Sigh. Oh well.

* * *

Holidays have been nice although the things i've been doing don't seem very interesting.. haha.

Currently reading this book of Mitch Albom called "Tuesdays with Morrie". It talks about "an old man, a young man, and life's greatest lesson" ( as you can see from the book cover =P). It's indeed a very inspiring book. Quite a thin book - not thick at all - but i'm reading it very slowly, trying to digest every meaningful line as deeply as i can.

This a part of the book that i like very much:

One afternoon, I am complaining about the confusion of my age, what is expected of me versus what I want for myself.
"Have I told you about the tension of opposites?" he says.
Tension of opposites?
"Life is a series of pulls back and forth. You want to do one thing, but you are bound to do something else. Something hurts you, yet you know it shouldn't. You take certain things for granted, even when you know you should never take anything for granted.
"A tension of opposites, like a pull on a rubber band. And most of us live somewhere in the middle."
Sounds like a wrestling match, I say.
"A wrestling match." He laughs. "Yes, you could describe life that way."
So which side wins, I ask?
"Which side wins?"
He smiles at me, the crinkled eyes, the crooked teeth.
"Love wins. Love always wins."

And these:

"Everyone knows they are going to die, but nobody believes it."

"Once you know how to die, you know how to live."

You see. How can a holiday be boring with such a meaningful book? It makes me think of how i have been doing all these times, how to live life to the fullest, what are my dreams and what i can do in order to pursue them, what's the correct attitude towards life and so on.

I feel enriched, yet i'm still looking for the answers.

It's funny how things go.

I'm gonna get out of it. Completely out of it..

New Skin!

I got a new template for this blog! haha..

Spent the whole day (yesterday) doing this.. A 'great' way to kill time.. and to kill my brain cells too. Sigh, i thought it would be easy to have a nice template.. but it turns out that i have to edit html myself and it won't be as convenient as before.

Guess it's the price i have to pay for beauty? Haha. So just take it~

It's not completely done though.. I dunno how to put the blog links.. And i'm gonna do it next time coz i had it enough doing this thing the whole day. I need a break from this.

Anyway, i'm here just to announce about the new look of my blog.. Hoping that it'll make a good start for the new chapters of my life story.

Happy reborning, blog! =P

And thank you, Wen Jia and CK for helping out!

..18..

~Happy Birthday, Sarah~
hope you still smile like this often =)

Guess it's too late to blog about the graduation day as what i promised in the previous post.. *sorry*

Feel like blogging about my birthday too, but it's already one week after my birthday, so the urge to blog is already fading.. -.-

Anyway, I am happy that i got to celebrate my birthday with family and friends and received presents from you all. Received many wishes. Even got some surprises. This is quite an unconventional birthday for me to have.

So, i'm here to thank all of you for making my 18th birthday a sweet one! Really appreciate it.

*gonna post the photos of my presents if got the chance..*

......

OMG.

I realise how boring this post is, how bored i am and how lazy i am to blog. LOL.

come slap me if u can x_x
the aimless, nothing-good-to-do mode is killing me

I'm finally back!

Hello there... It's been so long since i last updated. I'm sorry, blog!

Apparently my finals are over.. in other words, I'm done with college already. And now I'm on a 4-months-holiday (if i'm going to Monash next year). University is starting by the end of February 2010. I know.. super duper looongg, right? My longest holiday ever..

Anyway i got quite many things to blog about... but i'm kinda lazy to write a lot =P
So, here we start~

1. Goodbye, college!!
My classes ended on the day before finals started. So us Muffins ( aka MUFY-ians) brought camera to college and camwhored like mad..

For more photos, go check out my facebook~

I'm just liking the MUFY life. I know we all do. Will miss the yellow table area in the campus where most of us used to be spending our break times; Rock Cafe, 'Orange', 'Pink' and 'White' restaurants where we used to have lunch at; the drink stall (it's a van, actually) selling micheal jackson (it's actually soya cincau); and everything that reminds me of college life!

And, of course, more importantly, i'll miss all my friends and lecturers i've met here~ All the best in the future! The end of college doesn't mean the end of our friendship =)

2. I missed out KC people in college!
It was the day when i had my Accounts and Maths exams. My high school Sr3 people (which includes some of my ex-classmates, and i know most of them) came to visit Sunway University College! Too bad i missed out the chance to meet them.. They passed by the exam hall when I was on my way from the foyer. hmph.. there's no big deal anyway XD

3. MILO CINCAU~
This is like the biggest joke I've ever come across in a restaurant.
After exam, we were having lunch at rock cafe when Xian Hor and I tried to order drinks from the guy from drinks stall. In fact I've ordered already but it never comes after a long wait. So i called the guy again.

Me: Tadi saya sudah order milo ais tapi belum datang lagi.
Xian Hor: Tambah lagi satu cincau..
The Guy: *nods* walked away without saying a word*

Five minutes later, another guy approached us with A CUP of MILO ICE MIXED WITH CINCAU.
-0-

I can't remember our reactions. I only remember that i was totally speechless and I felt so funny at the same time. Too bad i don't have the photo of the cup of "milo cincau". Maybe you can imagine the feeling if you get to see the cup of drink.

The Other Guy: Saya tak tau, tadi kawan saya kata 'milo cincau' saya pun buatlah milo cincau~
There you go.

The funniest thing is, when i looked at the receipt, there it really printed
"Milo Cincau - RM2.00".
Normal milo ice costs RM1.80.
I'm speechless again..

In the end, Xian Hor decided to drink it coz he was desperate for a drink after eating curry mee..

4. Exams
Exams are okay after all... Except for chemistry. Sigh.. now I seriously doubt if i can meet the requirements for Monash Pharmacy. I think i can meet the total marks required but.. Chem B - 80 and above? I screwed up the paper when my internal mark is so low, and i'm depending on the exam paper to push up my marks.

80 and above? Let's hope for a miracle. ><
Keeping my fingers crossed until the 10th of December..

5. Outings~

These few days had been kinda exhausting. Went out with
Ying Ying

Jiun Jie

Nutserlar

and CK

on the 13th.
As what I've promised Nutserlar, we got to sing k together =) She has a very amazing voice! Really enjoyed it.
At night, some of the Muffins had a steamboat buffet dinner at Yuen. After the dinner, I dunno when i'll be meeting some of them again. =( Hopefully during graduation night?

Anyway, on the next day which is yesterday, I went back to KC to attend the graduation ceremony. If i didn't come to MUFY and continue studying Sr3 in my school, i'll be one of them graduating as well. (yes, i'm considered as a school leaver. not graduated ><) Then went out with some of the girls... and another exhausting day is over~

Will be blogging about it in the next post after getting the pics from them. Stay tuned~ =)

THIS IS SO GONNA BE MY LAST POST BEFORE FINALS.

I SWEAR.

CHEMISTRY!! REQUIREMENT 80!!!

NO MORE WASTING TIME!!

TILL THEN.
GOOD LUCK, EVERYONE.

:S

This morning, I got to watch a tv programme called "102 Minutes That Changed America" on History Channel.

It was about the collapse of the two main buidings of the World Trade Centre in America on 11th September, 2001. The "911 incident", you know.. the historical disaster.

The show was cool and worth watching as it was very professionally edited. They got several videos recording every bits of here and there throughout the collapse of the buildings: (warning: the show was labeled 18 ><)

The aeroplane penetrate through the buildings in the morning (i didnt watch that part coz i joined in halfway, but i suppose they got),
The top floors of the buildings were on fire..
People ran for their lives..
Women unable to withstand the shock and cried..
People unable to get out and desperately waving, seeking for help from the windows..
Someone recording from a building nearby witnessed a person jumped down and died..
Firemen trying their best to help.. got into the building and used walkie-talkie to communicate..
The situation was broadcasted almost immediately via a large tv screen on the other side of the town and everyone went like "OH MY GOD"..
etc etc..

It was supposed to be a normal, working morning but then the whole town was in such a big mess..

..and finally, one of the buidings collapsed.. (i wonder if the firemen who used the walkie-talkie in the building just now survived)..
The haze it caused was super duper horrible.. so thick and dark.. and it's spreading so fast..
This time, everyone was running like mad from the haze.. people failed to avoid the haze got their whole body in white and undergo difficulty to breathe....
Some buildings nearby were also destroyed.. places where many ppl were running just now went empty..
Firemen and police couldnt do anything anymore and they stayed there, feeling terrible..
People crying over their loved ones..
etc etc...

And all these happened from 9 something to 10 something in the morning. Just within 102 minutes.

I was ten during that year and i remember i heard about that news. In fact i even watched the recording of the incident that time. But of course, that wasn't so in detail, just the collapsing part. Back then i didn't really feel anything, simply because it was too unbelievable and i was too young to imagine the pain.

But now I can.

Imagine it's just another ordinary day and you've just started working in the morning and all these happened, just within an hour. That's such a nightmare. In fact i hope it was just a nightmare. But sadly, it so HAPPENED.

Imagine it's a fresh Saturday morning and you just decided to chill in the living room and watch tv with family, then you come across this programme and you cant help but keep on watching although it is horrible and depressing (coz you can hardly watch a special programme like this); then within the hours of watching you can't withstand the continuous shock and feel dizzy while your stomach is like churning inside.

I don't have to imagine, I've been through that.

Ughh.

Actually i had recovered from the trauma, but now it all comes back as i'm remembering it again. Then why am i still writing all these down? Despite the fact that the show was actually worth watching..

Maybe it's because i think sometimes i need to face the ugly sides of life, and take them. They do exist, no matter how hard you try to ignore them.

Still, i need to do something to cheer myself up. Music might help, perhaps.
And i'm sorry if this post disturbed your mood..

Good Day

Goodday fresh milk is nice.. LOL WTH~~ jkjk

Have been quite busy these days. Decided to become a true NERD until the end of finals. And i actually realise i kinda enjoy doing so.. haha. At least i'm keeping myself on track and not making myself regret for panicking at the very last minute..

Time management is really important. Now i can feel the difference as i try to improve on that.

Today has been a nice day as i actually find myself enjoy being busy the whole day. I was so into what i was doing (which is, currently, the bio research) i didn't feel hungry or sleepy. (Though the productivity is still not high.. but there's an improvement!) Maybe i shall consider staying back at college more often to do my work.. the atmosphere there is much better for me to study than at home.

I should be going to sleep or continue a bit on my work now.. But i just find today special because of my unexpectedly great attitude, and i feel like complimenting myself about that. Good one, Yen Yee! Keep it up! XD

No, i'm not being vain...

Haircut... again

"Short hair.
Shorter hair.
Ultimate shortest hair." - Ji Hau, 2009
lol.

This is my 3rd haircut since i decided to have short hair.
The ultimate shortest one? Well. *sobs*

Not that it's ugly though.. In fact my sis says its nice.
But my look keeps changing within this few months i can't really take it anymore.
Went to different hairstylists every time, and let them decide how to cut since i myself dunno which suits me best.. Then came out with totally different hairstyle every time.
If i continue doing this i think i'll get heart attack some day.

Never intend to shock anyone of you though.. coz i myself am shocked as well. XD
This time it's like the Bob style.. a (very) short kind of Bob hairstyle. Can you imagine that? on me??
Well if u can't, sunway ppl can see it next week when college starts. NO photos here. Thank you.

Till now i can't really accept that look... lalalalala~~
I'm getting fed up with this. Cracking my head over my hair while spending money on it every 2 months is not a good idea.

I'm thinking of keeping it long again next year.. and STRAIGHTEN it. Will be spending more money at a time, but i'm sure it'll last longer.. So it's a better option right??

Declaration =p

Before blogging anything else, somehow i feel the need of doing some 'declaration' regarding that recently The J's (Ji Hau, Joel, Jing Wen), Xian Horrible and Natalie keep saying that i have 'changed'. Seems like they got some serious shock out of it. lol~

According to them, the shy-and-quiet-and-nice-and-friendly Yen Yee has now become a lame, crazy and always-high Yen Yee (something like that). I'm not denying it; but they are making it sounds a bit too over. 'Attitude changed 180 degrees'? Duh, not that scary la Joel. -.-

So what happened to me? Nothing, really. What i can say is, this is always a part of me. The inner part of me which i don't usually open up to everyone, perhaps. (Ji Hau said he 'opened my inner pandora box'.. somehow he isn't wrong, but then again, that sounds a bit too over. Haha.)

Generally speaking, this is the more real part of me and i'm showing it to people only when i feel really comfortable with them. (So you can tell that i'm actually glad i have you guys as my friends. =) You guys should be happy, shouldn't you?)

Besides, now that i feel contented with everything i have, i'm trying to enjoy the remaining MUFY life to the fullest. That's it. (Confusion solved?)

* * * *

It's the last one-week holiday of the year but i don't feel any different. After an exhausting week of finishing the 'adventurous' english research project (swt), all i need is just some good rest and relax.

Then i have to get prepared for the most hectic week of the year after the break. After that week only i think i'll go "whee!"...

Anyways, before starting anything, I better get rid of my serious dark circles first. XD

Happy Raya break~

Richard Clayderman? Maksim? Yiruma!

Yeap. Meet my new idol.. Yiruma the Korean pianist! A brilliant composer indeed.

Once I get to listen to his music, I just cant help listening to it over and over again. I like him way better than how I like Richard Clayderman or Maksim.

Reasons to like him:
1. That's my favourite type of piano pieces. I've finally found it. SO BEAUTIFUL.
Especially when he's playing live.

This is the song that made me fall for him.. haha. I heard that this piece is used in Twilight movie as Bella's lullaby. (I've never watched Twilight though.. never read the book too.)

2. He played the songs with full emotions and feelings. By listening to it I'm so touched I wanna cry! Again, beautiful~

3. He controls the dynamics so well. The melody is so rich yet clear. It's nice enough to be played solo without any other instruments.
And this is the real cool one. (his fingers! omg)

There are also many other songs of his which I like very much, but I think I better stop here before my blog is flooded with videos. =)

Now tell me, how can I not be his fan??
*heart melted*~~

It's a long weekend

And I'm escaping.. from all the homework and stress...
I'm being lazy.
I spent the whole saturday reading a meaningless book. At night, read Jing Wen and Ji Hau's blogs and got some motivation to continue blogging here again. =)
Then I spent the whole sunday choosing a nice template for this blog (and I'm quite satisfied with it). In the end, I didn't touch any homework by now, except for the chem online quiz..

And now, I'm still wasting my time.. escaping escaping escaping... lalala...

I guess it's somehow like a negative feedback. It had been such a long and tiring week. Then finally here comes the weekend and I suddenly don't feel like doing anything anymore. As if I can hear my brain cells shouting, "We need some rest!"

Alright, stop giving excuses, you lazy thing. Better start your work...
And please, if you really need more rest, sleep earlier tonight!!
Seriously, I realise I cant do things properly without good sleep.

Okay. One last thing before signing off..

Tomorrow is mom's birthday ( she has the exact same birthday as Malaysia's). So today we daughters gave her a bedside lamp as her birthday present, and made a lame surprise about it. We secretly set up the lamp in her bedroom when she's not in, and gave her the wrapped empty box containing a paper saying "surprise! please proceed to your room". haha..
Happy birthday, mom! =)

Putting my laughters aside

It seems like forever since I was happily spending my time in college.
Many things had happened in just a day or two.

My uncle passed away. My dad had pneumonia. For once, I was seriously sick in bed and couldn't manage to go to college for 2 days. And we cannot attend uncle's funeral.

It's like everything had gone worse. Had a really bad mood, but I guess time heals.

Yesterday I felt so ill I had been lying on the bed all day long.
Got some warm wishes from friends hoping that I will get well soon.. Really appreciate that. But sometimes I feel like scolding some people. Why is it so easy for them to simply crack some jokes on H1N1 or even death? What if something bad really happens? We wouldn't know..

Okay, maybe they were just trying to make people feel less worried. But they just couldn't act like they completely take it for granted, could they? I know we are all stressing over studies recently. But no joke for this. It's too heavy to be taken as a joke.

(I dunno why I'm getting mad over this. You just can't make any fun out of this issue after having so many problems that scared you.)

Since I'm blogging here, you can tell that I'm getting better now. What bothers me now is about how I'm gonna catch up with my studies. Not going to college at this peak period for 2 days is enough to kill me.

Below is a list of what are awaiting to be done:
1. English presentation on Monday.
2. Chemistry quizzes, which I had missed out these 2 days.
3. Introduction for Biology research project.
4. Biology test on Friday. Believe it or not. It's coming!!
5. Catch up with the new topics being taught in Maths and Accountings.
6. Not to mention the English research project that requires lots of hard work all the time...

Just be steady. Don't waste time. Finish them one by one.
And I can get through all these.

By that time, I'll probably call myself a Superwoman. -.-
Told you it seems like forever since I was happily spending time in college..

Random Updates

I guess it's time to update my look in this blog, since I still seem long-haired in here..
And I've only posted photos of my high school mates. That's not fair. =D

Standing (from left) : Xian Hor, Natalie, me, Ying Ying.
Sitting: Ji Hau, Joel.
Quote on Joel's shirt: I ♥ Jing Wen & JiHau (it's his birthday present)

Meet my 'new' gang of buddies whom I start spending my lunch breaks with.. Oh, 2 of them were left out in this photo. Chun Kiat was the camera man, while Jing Wen disappeared to somewhere else..

And this is my first short-haired look after 3 years of keeping it long.
Which became the subject for Ji Hau, Joel and Jing Wen to tease about. ( How 'mature'. haha)
Frankly, I don't really like the hairstyle. It wasn't short enough to be managed easily.

That's why I got another haircut 2 weeks after college starts. And now it's much better!

Photo taken last Saturday. 1st August 09.
Went back to my high school to watch the dance performances performed by Han Fong Dance Club, and also my chinese folk dance club in high school.
This whole bunch of MUFYians came to support Kiwi (my senior in the club, who is also a MUFYian) and watched her perform.
Enjoyed that night a lot.
Met my teacher, and many old friends.
The show was great.
I'll miss everything about it!

* * * *

Talking about me recently. I fall sick. Sigh.
Coughed badly, and now having flu.
In fact, my whole family fall sick as well.. ( except for eldest sis!)
*touch wood touch wood*
Blame the stupid weather. And I think I kinda broke my record of falling sick so many times in a year. =/
Gotta take care of myself.. And don't worry. It is not H1N1. Gotta stay alert though..

My studies are going to be hectic. English B is tough.
I'm having 2 research projects and I have no idea how to start. Sigh~
It's okay, everything will be fine.
Life without challenge is meaningless.

(I feel cool coming out with this line! lol.. it's true anyways.)
At least I have a bunch of friends to laugh and whine with me throughout the semester..

So now I'd better sign off and get my head into studies~
(How I hope I'm that self-disciplined. *guilty*)

Ready. Get set. Not Going Yet.

Finally.. After the long long sem break, i'm back to college!
But my classes are starting tomorrow. Today was just the day for registration.
So.. Let's make it short. I'm writing in note form.

1. Apparently i'm short-haired. Failed to see any surprised face expression. lol. I'm looking forward to the next hair-cut though..

2. See more old faces in the campus. =D Welcome to Sunway, Joanne, YiXuan and JooLing! Well, JooLing, i haven't seen you but i'll be searching for you.. haha

3. Fall sick but i believe i'm recovering. At least i didnt need to use the whole lot of tissues i brought today. =)

4. *Praying for good lecturers, nice classmates and a wonderful semester.*

5. Cant wait for the chinese folk dance concert on the 1st of August!! All the best to the beloved dancers!

Excited.
Exhausted.

Shoot for the Moon

Finally, I got my results for the exam! =)
Yes, i managed to smile.
But smiling with relief doesn't mean i'm happy with my results...

Eng - 80
Bio - 82
Chem - 82
Accts - 86
Maths - 91

Luckily i managed to get all HDs. Thank God.. 82 is just so close to D.
(em, for those who dont understand, D= Distinction, HD = High Distinction.)
But for next semester, i bet English alone would make me not being able to get all HDs...

As for the requirements for Monash Pharmacy, my results for this semester is okay BUT my Chem is a bit worrying. I need at least 80 for chem, and now i only slightly crossed the border line of it. Swt.

Anyway, at least i proved something to myself.
I am capable of getting into Monash Pharmacy, although the results might just barely meet the requirements.
At least i still can.

But i need to study harder during next semester to keep it up.
I cannot stand it if i ended up failing to meet the requirements with just a few marks behind.
I definitely won't do that to myself, I promise.

And i wont be considering other courses in Monash with lower requirements anymore.
That is just an escape from taking the challenge.
Pharmacy is the best choice after all. Monash Pharmacy is perfect.
Now that i know i can do it with my best attempt.
I'm determined this time...

As what i've read from PS. I Love You, i want to shoot for the moon.
Then go ahead! Determination gets you everywhere! ^^

Let's Start With This Beautiful Day

First of all, i wanna apologize to my previous blog, which i've just deleted it to start this. Sorry for abandoning you, as i had not been in the mood to blog in english. Sorry for making you dull and boring. Sorry for making you lifeless.
Lastly, sorry for deleting you.

*Dang*

As for my current blog, i promise that i'll TRY to keep you updated and not to delete you. haha.

It's time for a change anyway.

* * * *

So.

What made today such a lovely day? =)
It's my gathering day with my dearest high school ex-classmates!
Gathering as in all-of-them-who-are-still-in-m'sia-are-invited kind of official gathering. Whee!

I was so excited since the night before that i kept thinking of the best outfit that i can put on. Then, in a joyful mood, i took a photo of mine which miraculously looks nice for the very first time.

( Well, those who know me well will know that i rarely do this... haha)
( And hey, i smiled from the heart! )

* * * *

The gathering was held in The Ship in Bukit Bintang, KL.
Many of them showed up. The tables were awkwardly arranged in a very- i mean, very long row to fit us in.

The budget for our lunch was awesome.
Soup + appetizer (bun) + main course (steak) + dessert (ice-cream) = RM20 nett
Thanks Hsiao Wern, for all your hard work! Really appreciate it.

Apparently, we spoiled the romantic atmosphere in the restaurant. ahha. We grabbed every opportunity to chat, take photos, and change places to catch up with those who sat further away. It felt more like a christmas dinner.

Then we celebrated Shun Shun's and Wern Yi's birthday in advance.
Shun Shun and Wern Yi.
One is my oldest friend of all, while the other is my so-called "lover".
Really missed you girls. Must hang out again since we are all on holiday!

Wern Yi, Shun Shun

The restaurant played the birthday song for us as the cake was served. Hsiao Wern gave Wern Yi a super-cute tiny little guitar as her birthday present. That's really cute!! I wanted it even though i dunno guitar. lol.

Hsiao Wern and the cute guitar

She played some songs on the spot, which is "I'm Yours". Missed Hsiao Wern with her guitar so much. We all sang along.. quietly (duh). Even the foreigners over the other table clapped the beats with us. haha..

us

That's my dearest class. The best class ever to me, i may say.
I was so happy to see them i wanted to cry.
We talked and played as usual, and i really missed the way we joke around.
The way we treat each other like a family.
The way each and everyone of them being themselves. They are all unique and lovable.

Okay let's just stop here.. suddenly become moody already.

By the way, i'm one of the 2 organisers for the gathering next year! That feels funny coz i have to thank God every time i can make it to a gathering...

* * * *

That's not all for the beautiful day. haha.
All of a sudden, my family members are in the mood to make nice foods. I dunno why.
Well, despite the lunch i had in The Ship:

This morning, aunt made fruit juice for us.
Mum cooked papaya soup for dinner as a new recipe.
Sonia, my eldest sis, tried to make mango cheesecake without the need to bake it. And it turned out to be my favourite! (Coz it's mango. it's cheese. and it's pudding. =P)

So my stomach is full of delicious foods today. *indulged* ^^

ps: This is such an extremely long post... which shows that i'm really in a good mood. =D
